Teen swimmer reported missing at Nehantic State Forest has died – Hartford Courant

A 16-year-old male who was pulled from the water at Uncas Pond off the beach in Nehantic State Forest in Lyme has died, according to the spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The DEEP spokesman said state Environmental Conservation Police, State Police Troop F, the Lyme Fire Department, and dive teams from Portland, Middletown, Connecticut State Police, and Yantic-Norwich responded to a report at 4:38 p.m. Saturday evening of a missing 16-year-old male last seen in the water at Uncas Pond off the beach in Nehantic State Forest.

“The male was swimming with friends and at a certain point, went under the water,” DEEP Director of Communications Will Healey said in an email.

Healey said the teen was “located and brought to shore, where CPR was administered.” Healey later said that the teen had died.

The teen had been transported to Shoreline Clinic in Westbrook, Healey said. He did not identify the teen.
