Mystic man dies after motorcycle crash – Hartford Courant

A Mystic man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed in the area of Sandy Hollow Road and Allyn Street, police said.

Police said officers from the Groton Police Department and emergency medical services from Mystic River Ambulance, Old Mystic Fire Department, Mystic Hook and Ladder Fire Department, and Lawrence and Memorial Hospital Paramedics responded at about 6:18 p.m. on the report of the crash involving only the motorcycle.

Witnesses reported that the motorcycle had crashed and the operator had been ejected from the vehicle, police said in a statement.

Police, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene; the driver sustained serious trauma and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased, police said in the statement.


The operator was identified as William E. Sydenham III, 47, of Bindloss Road, police said. The motorcycle was a 2003 BMW K1200RS and it was registered to Sydenham, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation by the Patrol Division and the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Accident Reconstruction Team, which includes officers from the Groton, Stonington, and Ledyard police departments.
