Mounties seek suspects in QEII drive-by shooting


Police say multiple shots were fired as two cars drove along the highway between Didsbury and Olds on May 11

The RCMP is asking for public assistance to help identify two people of interest in a drive-by shooting that occurred on May 11 on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Didsbury and Olds.

Mounties say the incident occurred around 7 p.m. that evening when two cars were headed northbound on the highway approaching Olds. The suspect vehicle, described by police as a dark-coloured two-door sports car, accelerated to overtake the other car, then pulled alongside them in the left lane.

“While the vehicles were beside each other, a firearm was pointed from the suspect vehicle at the victim, multiple rounds were discharged at the victim’s vehicle,” said the RCMP in a news release.

Police are seeking two people concerning the shooting. They described one as a white man in his mid-to-late 20s with a short black beard wearing a baseball cap, and the other as a woman with dark hair.

Olds RCMP is asking anybody who was in the area and may have information that would assist the investigation to contact the detachment at 403-556-3323. Mounties are also requesting dash camera footage from anyone who travelled the QEII between Didsbury and Olds on May 11 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
