The 52-year-old set off alone on the hike from Halls Gap to Barooka Lookout in the Grampians National Park about 2pm on Saturday and never returned.
Johns is not familiar with the area, where temperatures were expected to drop to 1 degree, Victoria Police said in a statement.
Police officers in the air, park rangers and the SES have been scouring the bush for any sign of the missing hiker.
Just after midnight on Monday, police announced the hiker had been found safe and well.
“Victoria Police would like to thank everyone for their assistance,” a spokesperson said, in a statement.
