Man found dead in Chaplin, police looking for person of interest in blue truck with Minnesota license plate – Hartford Courant

Police are looking for a person of interest in a murder investigation after a man was found dead early Sunday morning in Chaplin.

About 6:12 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to reports of an assault with life-threatening injuries at 214 Miller Road in Chaplin and found a man dead, according to Connecticut State Police Troop D.

Investigators identified a person of interest in the homicide and are asking for the public’s help identifying that person, who they believe is driving a light blue 1989 Ford F-350 with a red stripe on the tailgate and a Minnesota license plate of YBN8321.

Police released a photo of the truck Sunday, showing the pickup with an orange traffic cone, a cardboard box and a white bucket in its bed, among other items.

Police have urged the public not to approach the person or the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police detectives at 860-779-4900 or call 911. All texts or calls with information about the truck will be kept confidential, police said.

The state police Eastern District Major Crime Squad was investigating the incident.

No further information was available as of Sunday evening, police said, and the victim’s identity or cause of death had not yet been released.
