Edmonton weather: It’s not snowing, it’s raining with style

Article content

Currently, it’s -4 C at the Edmonton Blatchford station, with 12 km/h winds from the southeast making it feel like -9.

Still a bit chilly out there it seems as winter digs in its claws in a final, feeble attempt to hold us all in its freezing embrace. Throughout the day we’ll continue to see this light-falling, fluffy snow, which I like to call “Game of Thrones snow” on account that it doesn’t actually look real; more like a CGI special effect added in post-production.

It’s actually quite gorgeous. The snow isn’t falling hard enough to accumulate on the ground or anything, and it’s not old enough that I have to plug in my car or wear a toque or mittens, so really I’m not bothered.

That said, we will see some warmer temperatures in the future, particularly on Monday with a high of 11 C and sunshine. But it looks like Mother Nature can’t make up her mind as temperatures throughout the week seemingly fluctuate.

Slowly, but surely, we’ll get there. Warmer times are ahead, I’m sure of it. Until then, I hope you and yours have a Happy Easter and a relaxing long-weekend. 🐰
