Police are on the hunt for an armed and dangerous suspect after a double homicide in Chilliwack.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in after a shooting at a Chilliwack home Thursday.
IHIT says the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment RCMP (UFVRD) responded to a report of two women and a man suffering from gunshot wounds on McNaught Avenue and Yale Street.
When officers arrived, one woman was already deceased and a second woman was suffering life-threatening injuries. The second woman was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, where she later died. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics on scene.
IHIT has released the name of the suspect. Fifty-year-old Eric John Shestalo is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, according to IHIT.
The team is urging the public to use caution and not approach Shestalo, but instead call 911 immediately. He is described as 5’9″ and 176 pounds, and was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket and a black hat with an orange rim.
Shestalo was last seen driving a red 1990 Jeep YJ, with the front end painted yellow, and IHIT says the vehicle may be bearing B.C. licence plate “MT981W.”
IHIT says Shestalo was known to the victims, and the shooting was targeted.
“Officers are working to locate Mr. Shestalo as well as any witnesses to this devastating incident.” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said. “We are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or residential security footage, to come forward and speak with police as soon as possible.”
Anyone traveling in the block of McNaught Avenue and Yale Avenue between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., who have dash camera footage or who have any information regarding the shooting, is being urged to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
