ACTU looking to fix a bargaining system that’s ‘really broken’

Australian Council of Trade Unions President Michele O’Neil says they’re looking to fix a bargaining system that’s “really broken”.

The ACTU is calling for changes to workplace laws ahead of next week’s Jobs and Skills Summit in Canberra.

“We know it’s broken because we’ve had nearly a decade of wages being stagnant, and now, they’re going backwards in real terms,” Ms O’Neil told Sky News Australia.

“There’s a pretty wide agreement at cross unions, employers, and government that the bargaining system’s not working, it’s broken, only one in seven workers in Australia have access to it.”
